Event Description

Noted rainwater harvesting expert and author Nate Downey will host this informative and exciting workshop at the Long Beach Main Library on October 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

If we want thriving landscapes, abundant food, strong communities, and sustainable economies, we can start by treasuring the rain. Downey will share thoughts and strategies for taking advantage of rain, a precious resource that falls free from the sky.

Nate Downey shows you the way with his practical book that anyone can use to begin implementing rainwater harvesting designs today. Harvest the Rain is low tech, designed for everyone, everywhere, even for those with limited time and money. In addition to cisterns, gray water, and earthworks, the book shares important ways to help protect your local watershed.

While you're there, don't miss the free raffle! Raffle winners will take home a rain barrel to be used to capture water from future storm events.

No reservations required.

This event is sponsored by the Long Beach Office of Sustainability, Long Beach Water Department, Long Beach Permaculture Guild, & the Permaculture Credit Union.
